The guide introduces restaurants by area, such as Hakata and Tenjin, and by genre, including Japanese cuisine, Western cuisine, and sweets. It includes photos, restaurant information, and icons indicating the items each restaurant can accommodate.

You can find your copy at tourist information centers, accommodation facilities, and other locations throughout Fukuoka City. The information is also available through the online PDF, the restaurant guide page on the project website, and EAT FUKUOKA. EAT FUKUOKA is a website that shares restaurant information and other content in English so that vegans, vegetarians, Muslims, and many more people can enjoy food in Fukuoka City.

VegeProject Japan was responsible for confirming the restaurants introduced in the booklet and on EAT FUKUOKA that can cater to vegetarian and vegan food needs. We also conducted interviews and wrote feature articles about selected restaurants. All articles about the restaurants we interviewed are available here.Feature articles for which VegeProject Japan handled the interviews and writing

Fukuoka City aims to create a universal food environment

Fukuoka City, through its Universal Food Promotion Project”, shares information on restaurants and other businesses in the city that offer accommodating menus through social media, overseas travel media, and other channels. They also support local restaurants and other businesses in introducing and expanding such menus, so that visitors with diverse food practices, including vegan and vegetarian food needs, can enjoy Fukuoka’s local food scene.

In FY2025, in addition to supporting the creation of this booklet, VegeProject Japan was involved in this project mainly through the following roles.

Seminars and activities for local businesses: We held seminars and supported business exhibitions and meetings to help businesses better understand vegan food needs.
Individual support to restaurants: We provided consultations, advice, introductions to vegan ingredients, and other support to restaurants.
Promotion support: We conducted interviews, wrote articles, and supported the promotion of vegan and vegetarian-friendly restaurants, including collaborations with Marco Togni, an Italian influencer with 2 million followers on social media.
