In March 2022, VegeProject Japan provided a lecture on vegan sweets for the students of the Tokyo Confectionery School, Bread Department.

In the first half of the program, our representative Haruko Kawano provided an introduction to the basics, outline and background of vegetarian and vegan lifestyles. We also introduced specific ingredients and their use in vegan sweets and bread.

In the second half, we invited Haruka Iwahashi, owner of the vegan sweets store Shochiku-en Cafe, and organized a Q&A session. In addition, we provided a tasting of strawberry shortcake, Mont Blanc, tiramisu, chocolate mousse cake from Shochiku-en Cafe, as well as bagels and soy milk whole bread from Matsuendon.

Both shops are selling vegan products with VegeProject’s vegan certificate mark.

“I had heard of, and was slightly interested in vegan sweets before assisting the event. However, I had had no chance of trying any vegan food before. I was glad I could learning about it in detail”, comments one of the participants of the event.

We, VegeProject Japan, are glad to have this opportunity. We will continue to introduce the younger generations into veganism, vegan cuisine.
