On Wednesday 29th June, the expansion of plant based food in the Japanese market was introduced on one of the most popular Japanese televisions. A show called ‘Hiruobi!’.  (TBS TV station)

Meal dishes of plant based ingredients were introduced. For example, non-egg omelette rice, vegan sea urchin cream pasta, vegan assorted plate. Plants based cheese and dim sum available in supermarkets and online shops were also introduced.

The broadcasters were surprised as to how high the quality was. They could not believe that the meals were made of only “plants”.

It is possible to notice the wide variety of plant based food. They mentioned that the awareness towards health and consideration for the environment are some of the reasons towards the growing market.

Haruko Kawano, our representative director was interviewed. Her comments towards the high quality of plant based foods, the background of this attention and future perspectives towards the plant based market were introduced.
