On November 28, 2023, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government hosted “Diverse Food Cultures, Customs, and Global Trends (Vegetarian&Vegan) Panel Discussion”, an event aimed at raising awareness amongst business owners about vegetarianism and veganism. The three panelists introduced their backgrounds, such as the motives for choosing a vegan lifestyle, and shared their insights into the vegetarian and vegan initiatives and developments in their home countries. They also discussed their thoughts and hopes for veganism and vegetarianism in Japan. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, as the panelists answered questions from facilitator Haruko Kawano and the audience.

We received positive feedback from the audience, indicating that this has been a valuable opportunity to hear the voices of vegetarian and vegan individuals, and deepen their understanding of these lifestyles. We hope this will foster change in the future operations of the businesses who attended.

We extend our warmest gratitude to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the organizing staff, the panelists who enlivened the discussion, and all the attending businesses.
