About “Learn SDGs from meals” Program

Plant-based foods are currently attracting attention around the world. In this program, run jointly by Yachiyo Engineering Co., Ltd. and Azuma Foods Co., Ltd., students are learning about the social and environmental issues related with food by trying plant-based foods during school lunches. This program also teaches about the efforts being made in the food manufacturing sector in order to achieve the SDGs.

The main dish of soy meat keema curry made from “Minced Veggie Meat (Plain)” was served for lunch. A special lecture on the topics below was also held for each grade before and after lunch.

“The link between food and social/environmental issues”
・Food production and its impact on social/environmental issues
・Concerns on food shortages due to global population growth
・Issues related to food loss and efforts to address them

The endeavor to teach about social and environmental issues, not only through lessons, but also by actually offering plant-based foods has become increasingly relevant over the years. We are honored that vegan products certified by our organization are being widely used for this purpose.
