From October 3rd (Thu) to October 5th (Sat), the 9th edition of the “Organic Lifestyle EXPO,” was held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Industrial Trade Center in Hamamatsucho (Minato Ward, Tokyo). This is an exhibition open to both businesses and the general public, promoting sustainable lifestyles.
Our organization, VegeProject Japan, set up the “VegeProject Zone”, an area introducing vegan and plant-based products. In this zone, 10 companies exhibited and offered samples of vegan and plant-based products, many of them using our vegan certification.
This year, a seminar titled “Shaping a Kinder Future for People, Animals, and the Planet” was also held at the special venue of this exhibition. This was a talk event between former House of Representatives member and social activist Keinin Horikoshi, and our representative Haruko Kawano. Mr. Horikoshi, who worked on animal welfare and sustainability issues during his time as a politician, has previously cooperated with Kawano on vegan-related topics, and performed a joint Instagram live session about the animals and the environment. In this discussion we discussed topics related to veganism, human rights, and education.

We also participated in the VegeProject Zone as exhibitors, and introduced vegan products to the public. We sold “lucky bags” containing certified vegan products such as curry roux, instant meals, snacks, sauces, syrups, and cosmetics.
In the VegeProject Zone, visitors could also sample products like Sendai Fu, dumplings, and sweets. Many attendees commented that this was their time trying vegan food.
