A “Seminar on Addressing Food Diversity – Aiming for Tottori City to Have the Most Vegan Menu Options in Japan” will be held in Tottori City on Monday, June 16. The event is organized by the Tottori Prefectural Government Tourism and Exchange Bureau International Tourism Attraction Division.

This seminar aims to deepen understanding about vegetarianism and veganism, which are growing in demand both in Japan and internationally. It is open not only to those working in restaurants and accommodations in the city but also to members of the general public who are interested in veganism. Attendance is free of charge.

Following the seminar, a vegan food tasting session will be held at a local restaurant, “Sanin Kaisen Robata Kaba Tottori Station Front,” which is already offering vegan-friendly options.

The seminar will be structured in two parts.

In the first part, Haruko Kawano, the representative of VegeProject Japan, will lecture on the general concepts of vegetarianism and veganism, the importance of accommodating these dietary choices, and practical implementation methods.

In the second part, Yukichi Fukui, who produces vegan cuisine for multiple restaurants, will share his experiences in implementing vegan options.

Mr. Fukui not only helps restaurants introduce vegan menus but also develops vegan products. The all-purpose seasoning “veggiena pure green,” released by Pure vegetarian, which he represents, has obtained our vegan certification.

Following the seminar, a tasting session will be held at the restaurant “Sanin Kaisen Robata Kaba Tottori Station Front.” Here, participants will have the opportunity to sample actual vegan dishes served at the restaurant and another restaurant “Dining Bar Connect,” both with menus supervised by Mr. Fukui.

Additionally, restaurants in Tottori City that participate in the seminar can receive a complimentary specialist consultation service (limited to first-time users) for introducing vegan menus.

This seminar and tasting session are free and open to anyone, including both business operators and the general public. (*attendance is subject to capacity limitations)
