On January 30, 2025, the Nagoya-meshi Promotion Association will host the “Nagoya-meshi Food Diversity Seminar.” This seminar aims to introduce foundational knowledge and practical know-how about catering to the needs of vegetarian, vegan, and Muslim customers, and will propose adapting Nagoya’s signature dishes, “Nagoya-meshi,” to cater to these needs.
Speakers will include the representative of VegeProject Japan, Haruko Kawano, as well as representatives from the Halal Japan Association and Yamamotoya Co., Ltd., who will provide a case study for a business already implementing vegetarian/vegan and halal-friendly menus.
Following the seminar, a networking event will be held to deepen connections among participants and speakers. Additionally, the venue will feature exhibits of vegan ingredients, such as meat and dairy substitutes, sauces, and seasonings, which can be utilized by food businesses to advance their vegan-friendly options.
With the 2026 Asian Games and Asian Para Games approaching, Nagoya City expects a significant increase in international tourists. To meet the growing demand for vegetarian, vegan, and halal-friendly meals—particularly among foreign visitors—the city is intensifying its efforts in this area.
Take this opportunity to deepen your understanding of vegetarian, vegan, and Muslim-friendly approaches and explore possibilities for your establishment.
We look forward to the participation of restaurants and other food-related businesses in Nagoya!
