On February 13, 2026, the Hiroshima Convention & Visitors Bureau hosted a seminar for business operators titled “Vegetarian/Vegan Frontiers Seminar – Towards “Hiroshima Cuisine” for Global Tourists.” In the first session, Haruko Kawano, representative of VegeProject Japan, shared insights on how to accommodate vegetarian and vegan needs. Following this, the Chugoku District Transport Bureau introduced their “Muslim/Vegetarian Guide Map,” which features plant-based dining options across the five prefectures of the Chugoku region. The second session featured a vegan food tasting and a networking event for the participants.

The event saw high interest, with approximately 70 people applying for the 40 available spots. To accommodate as many guests as possible, we increased the venue capacity. Members of the media also attended to cover the event.

The event took place at miobyDoTS, located in the “minamoa” commercial facility at Hiroshima Station. This restaurant has long been a provider of vegan options. For the tasting session, they served a beautiful plate featuring creative vegetable arrangements. The menu included “Chickpea Hummus with Root Vegetable Chips,” “Herb Salad with Kale, Quinoa, and Cashews,” “Cauliflower Fritters with Dukkah Spice,” and “Sprouted Brown Rice Vegetable Soup,” all garnished with fresh Hiroshima-grown strawberries.

The seminar brought together a wide range of professionals, including representatives from restaurants, hotels, tour guides, and local government officials. Participants deepened their understanding of veganism and actively exchanged ideas in a friendly, collaborative atmosphere.

We were encouraged to hear many positive comments from businesses eager to adopt vegan-friendly practices.

We would like to thank the Hiroshima Convention & Visitors Bureau for organizing this valuable event, the business operators for attending, and the team at miobyDoTS for providing such wonderful vegan cuisine.
