The Osaka-Kansai Expo is scheduled to take place from April 13 to October 13, 2025. This event will showcase visions for the future of society.
At the “Mirai no Shoku to Bunka Zone (Future of Food and Culture Zone)” within the Osaka Healthcare Pavilion, cheese manufacturer Rokko Butter—widely known in Japan for its cheese brand “QBB”—will open a food court restaurant called “QBB Kore mo Ii Kitchen”. All menu items will be vegan.
VegeProject Japan has been involved with “QBB PLANT MADE“, Rokko Butter’s plant-based cheese brand, since its launch. This time, we provided advice on ensuring the menu is fully vegan and on appropriate labeling for the Expo.
What is “Q・B・B PLANT MADE”?
QBB PLANT MADE is Rokko Butter’s first vegan cheese brand. It maintains the rich taste and texture of cheese while offering the unique flavors of plant-based ingredients. All products in this brand contain no animal-derived ingredients and are certified vegan by our organization.

The menu was supervised by Chef Hiroshi Sasaki of Kyoto’s renowned restaurant Gion Sasaki, which has earned three Michelin stars for five consecutive years since 2020.
The store design, inspired by a food truck, reflects a future where sustainability thrives in a lush, green environment. Visitors can enjoy a picnic-like atmosphere while watching the live kitchen in action.
Inside the store, a vegan certification mark is displayed to indicate that the menu has been reviewed by VegeProject Japan and meets vegan certification standards.

Pioneering a New Future for Cheese
As climate change becomes a global issue and governments aim for carbon neutrality, food companies worldwide are focusing on plant-based ingredients, which have a lower carbon footprint than animal-based products. Among Japanese cheese manufacturers, Rokko Butter is a clear pioneer in this field.

The fact that a cheese company is offering a 100% vegan menu at the Expo reflects a shift in Japanese food culture. Through QBB Kore mo Ii Kitchen, we hope more people will discover the deliciousness of vegan cheese and learn more about the sustainability of our food systems.
If you are visiting the Expo, be sure to stop by QBB Kore mo Ii Kitchen! Even if you can’t make it, you can still try QBB PLANT MADE at supermarkets or through online shops.
