Upon request from the Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR), Haruko Kawano, the representative of our organization VegeProject Japan, contributed an article about the vegan and plant-based market and its connection to local government initiatives. The foundation engages in a broad range of activities, including supporting local government internationalization and promoting multicultural coexistence and international exchange.

(Link to the Council of Local Authorities for International Relations webpage, Japanese only)
The article explains the growth of the vegan market, its background, and domestic trends, while discussing the significance of local governments promoting vegan accommodations and the challenges they face. It also introduces specific initiatives to overcome these challenges, featuring examples from local governments that have already shown successful results.
Promoting vegan initiatives can serve as an important element in attracting tourists and revitalizing regional economies. Moreover, from environmental protection and multicultural coexistence perspectives, local government involvement in these initiatives carries significant value.
As mentioned in the article, our organization has been assisting various local governments including the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, Kameoka City, and Fukuoka City in their efforts to promote vegan initiatives.
