Introduced Vegan Food at a Local Festival in Kita City

On Saturday, September 19, VegeProject Japan ran a stall selling soy meat steamed buns and vegan sweets at a local summer festival in Kita City, Tokyo, organized by the Bamba neighborhood association.

Our goal was to let people in the community where our office is located try vegan food, and to use that as a chance to introduce them to veganism.

The vegan steamed buns were packed with soy meat, beans, and vegetables, and their generous size made them very popular. We also sold pineapple cake and cookies made by Shochiku-en, a vegan-certified shop, without using any eggs or dairy — showing that sweets can be just as enjoyable without any animal-derived ingredients.

Although a typhoon was approaching, the rain stopped shortly after the festival began, and many people came to visit.

Thank you to everyone at the neighborhood association who warmly welcomed our vegan food stall, to those who saw our announcement and came from afar to visit, to everyone in the community who tried the vegan steamed buns, and to the volunteer members who ran the stall.
