Lectured on Vegan Catering at Fukuoka Prefecture Seminar
Fukuoka Prefecture is implementing a program to promote accommodations for diverse dietary needs, including vegetarian, vegan, and halal, among restaurants and lodging facilities within the prefecture. Continuing from the previous fiscal year, VegeProject Japan is participating in the program as an expert organization on vegetarian and vegan accommodations.
On August 6, 2026, the seminar “Learning with Experts and Chefs: The Basics of Vegetarian, Vegan, and Muslim Accommodations and Tips for Attracting Customers” was held in Kokura, Kitakyushu. At the seminar, Haruko Kawano, Representative Director of VegeProject Japan, gave a lecture on vegetarian and vegan accommodations. In addition to explaining the basics, she covered trends in Japan and overseas, examples of initiatives, practical approaches, and key points for attracting customers and PR.

The session on accommodating Muslim customers was led by Tomohiro Sakuma, Representative Director of the Japan Halal Association. Following the lectures, three kinds of vegetable sushi prepared by vegetable sushi chef Ko Tanimizu were served as a tasting of vegan cuisine.

The program also includes an individual menu development support program. Restaurants, lodging facilities, and other businesses in Fukuoka Prefecture can receive individualized support from experts free of charge, with support available for approximately 20 businesses. Depending on the circumstances of each establishment, support is available for consultations, recipe development, introductions to ingredients and suppliers, creation of multilingual menus, promotion, and sharing information through social media.
